Visiting Tutors
We are excited to be welcoming some new tutors over the next few months.
Kathy Taylor, trading as Katie Flutie, is an experienced and engaging tutor who helps students make a piece of Sterling silver jewellery to cherish. She specialises in working with beginners or those wishing to develop their basic silversmithing skills to create rings, bangles, earrings, pendants, brooches, chain necklaces and bracelets. She will be joining us on the evening of Thursday 4th June. Workshop participants will get a choice of what to make.
Amelia Hemmings of The Printed Block will be running a design-led block printing workshop where she will guide participants in planning a design exploring simple repeat patterns and composition. Using hand-carved woodblocks and carefully selected textile paint, participants will then practice on cotton fabric before creating their own organic cotton tea towel or a premium cotton tote bag to take home. This workshop is planned for Sunday 12th July.
Di Vernon is a glass artist and blacksmith. She will be running both fused glass workshops and glass foiling workshops on Sunday 19th and 26th July. During the fused glass workshop participants will be able to choose from a selection of glass blanks on which to create their masterpiece. During the glass foiling workshop participants will learn the skills necessary to create a sun-catcher from scratch.
Sam Farr of Skincare Boutique will be running a bath bomb workshop on Friday 7th August. Skincare Boutique make natural handmade skin products, including bath bombs or fizzers and shower steamers. During this fun hands-on workshop, participants will use a variety of home ingredients, rather than chemicals, to make 30-40 bath bombs or steamers. There will be a selection of moulds and scents to use and participants will be able to take their items home with them.
Rhian Owen will be joining us on Sunday 20th September to teach a watercolour workshop. This will be suitable for all, including complete beginners.
